With a gourmet theme and a winning cause, Epicurean Evening raised a record $66,000 for Methodist Home for Children on Sept. 1. The popular event drew nearly 400 guests in its fifth year, held for at the riverside Wilmington Convention Center.

With three grown children and four grandchildren, Jayne and Richard Howard hadn’t planned on building forts and refereeing snack time at this point in their lives. But all that changed about three years ago with a period of soul-searching and prayer. They adopted Talmadge and Tashawn last December, and Charlie and Ricky in July. They're in the process now of adopting one more child who lives in their home.

To show appreciation for Jordan Center teachers, MHC staff washed their cars--26 of them--in the parking lot Wednesday. President/CEO Bruce Stanley scrubbed alongside Vice Presidents Jim Williford and Polly Willis, Facilities Manager Andy McLellan, Staff Recruiter Veronica Soles, Human Resources Specialist Wendy Dickerson and Jordan Center Director Katherine Hutchens and Associate Director Julie Glasgow.

Several times a year we celebrate a favorite occasion at Methodist Home for Children: the finalization of "forever families" for children in our care.
Our most recent adoption party was in Wilmington. Congratulations to the Howards, the Hines, the Phillips, the Smiths and the Shepards—all New Hanover and Brunswick County families who adopted in the past year.
